Adele Oliveira (formerly Adele Melander-Dayton) was born in Minnesota, but grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After a childhood full of tumbleweeds, tie-dye, and green chile, she headed east to attend Vassar College and graduated in 2007. After a couple years in California and a move back east, she graduated from New York University in 2011 with an MA in journalism from the Cultural Reporting and Criticism program and is now a reporter for The Santa Fe New Mexican, the west's oldest newspaper, and its weekly arts magazine, Pasatiempo. Adele has also written for The Kirkus Review, Salon.com, Popmatters.com, and The Santa Fe Reporter. As of 2012, Adele again resides in Santa Fe with her husband Roberto and their dog and cat.
