Adele Oliveira (formerly Adele Melander-Dayton) was born in Minnesota, but grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After a childhood full of tumbleweeds, tie-dye, and green chile, she headed east to attend Vassar College and graduated in 2007. After a couple years in California and a move back east, she graduated from New York University in 2011 with an MA in journalism from the Cultural Reporting and Criticism program. Most recently, Adele was a reporter for The Santa Fe New Mexican, the west's oldest newspaper, and its weekly arts magazine, Pasatiempo. Now a freelance writer and editor, Adele has written for The Kirkus Review, Salon.com, Popmatters.com, Mosaic Magazine, and other publications. Adele lives in Santa Fe with her husband, daughter, dog, and cat.
